PwC report - VR in training

VR provides significantly shorter learning times. Learners in VR completed the training 4x faster than learners in the classroom. They were also 275% more ready to apply in practice what they had learned during the training.

This is what we found out thanks to the PwC report and for the first time we learned objective and measurable data on the effectiveness of soft training conducted with the exclusive use of VR. Until now, due to the lack of research, the training market could only rely on beliefs, intuition and a few interviews with trainees (you can read the results of the interviews here). These arguments were not always convincing enough for those making training decisions – and hardly surprising. Thanks to PwC’s research, the training market has received compelling evidence of VR’s effectiveness in developing soft skills.

Key findings from the study: The Effectiveness of Virtual Reality Soft Skills Training in the Enterprise

Selected employees from the group of new managers received the same training (from February 2019 to January 2020) in one of the following three settings:

  • training room
  • e-learning
  • vr-learning

When we compared results from different settings, we found that participants in VR-learning courses:

  • completed the training 4 times faster than in the classroom
  • felt 3.75 times more emotionally connected to the content than students in the classroom and 2.3 times more connected than e-learners.
  • were 275% more ready to put into practice what they learned during the training.
  • were 4 times more focused during the training than their e-learning counterparts and 1.5 times more focused than their classroom counterparts.
